Description and History
Description of the villa:
"All of the testimonials that you read on this website will give you a glowing report on weddings at Villa Crispolto, this is because nobody could be disappointed by the location, service and execution of the event there. If you’re reading this whilst trying to decide whether to get to married in Italy or not, stop right now, there is no choice other than Italy, or Villa San Crispolto. Everything the Italians do is done with such style and class that to me no other country could rival them. Not only are you just about guaranteed the weather you want (hot summers, warm springs, mild autumns, snowy winters), you are offered the most delicious food in the world for your wedding breakfast: my guests still talk about the 7 course menu, and the wine is grown in vineyards not far from the villa you are slipping it in. Villa San Crispolto is (as you will have read a million times by now) all you dreamt of (and more). Cortona town is prettier then Siena and Florence – but almost a hidden secret in tour books. It is fairy tale. "

History of San Crispolto
San Crispolto was originally built in the 13th century. It was left to near ruin until 1998 when it was purchased and the process of reconstruction began. Every detail has been carefully considered to maintain the authenticity of both the time and the sentiment of Saint Crispolto.
Saint Crispolto was the first archbishop of Bettona during 58 AD. He is believed to have performed many miracles here in this community. The Romans out of fear of his benevolence persecuted him. After two attempts to execute him failed - first by drowning, and second by immolation - he was tortured to death. After his canonization, the church was erected in his land for his honor during the 13th century.
