Dear Customer, Vacations in Umbria and Tuscany generally go hand in hand with an interest in our typical products, most notably extra virgin olive oil and wine. Therefore, inspired by our constant desire to offer our guests the very best, we have decided to add wine alongside our well-known San Crispolto extra virgin olive oil. Deciding on the wine was not simple, but our research was stimulating. In the end, we narrowed the choice down to two wines: Maria Rita preferred one and I favored the other. The two were so good we couldn’t decide, so… we chose both. Two selected estates bottle these wines for us and we are offering it exclusively to our guests. They are: These wines can be purchased only at Villa San Crispolto. If you would like to try them during your stay, or if you’d like to take some home with you at the end of your vacation, just let us know and we’ll arrange for it when you arrive at our villa. We ship around the world by express courier. We also organize wine tastings of several Tuscan wines as well as wine tours throughout Tuscany. Villa Baroncino Olive OilOlive oil has long represented the unique spiritual, natural and culinary feature of the hills around Lake Trasimeno and in Umbria. This is a land of age-old traditions, and today it is the leading area for the DOP mark –Protected Designation of Origin – for extra virgin olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil, an invaluable part of the Mediterranean diet, has been produced on this estate for decades. The olives of the Leccino, Frantoio, Moraiolo and Dolce Agogia varieties are harvested from approximately 150 olive trees on the San Crispolto estate and are then pressed at the ancient oil mill of Passignano. Harvesting, conservation in well-ventilated containers, and cold pressing are done based on the very oldest traditions to guarantee that none of the sensory characteristics of the product are altered. With its unmistakable and delicately fruity flavour, and just the right dense green colour with golden highlights, our extra virgin olive oil is the ideal product for a healthy diet. At Villa Baroncino, we are fully aware of this and we have traditionally devoted the same love, attention and commitment to making our oil the way our forefathers did. Our annual production is limited to approximately 300 bottles, and as a result we use it strictly for the food prepared for my family and guests at Villa San Crispolto. The price per bottle is 10 euro, and on request we can ship the oil to your country. You can also reserve a bottle from the upcoming harvest starting in November, for a wonderful opportunity to taste “new oil”, perhaps drizzled over typical local bruschetta. Villa Baroncino Vino Lacrima di Morro D’alba 2002We have long sought a wine to offer our guests, and now we have finally found it. This Lacrima is a wine distinguished by its deep, inky red hue, and its mellow, elegant palate. It is bottled by the Badiali & Candelaresi Estate especially for Villa San Crispolto. This winery produces Lacrima di Morro d'Alba DOC. This wine is a symphony, with its bouquet reminiscent of violets and velvety smooth palate that is unexpectedly, exquisitely fresh. The fascinating name of the wine is derived from the variety of the same name, the Lacrima, a native of the district. It is of extremely ancient origin and is still cultivated only in the commune of Morro d'Alba and the territories of neighboring communities. The great diversity of varieties still to be found in the center and south of Italy makes it extremely difficult to trace the pedigree of this breed, which is descended from a family of "vitis vinifera" that is ancient. That descent is so complex that the exact origins of Lacrima may never be established. Why the variety and the wine obtained from it have the name Lacrima (tear) is not clear. The denomination may be derived from some legend or simply from the nearly oval shape of the grape or the pyramidal form of the cluster, both resembling tear drops. The wine is almost a varietal, for all "correction" is limited to the addition of 15 per cent of Montepulciano and/or Verdicchio grapes. Villa Baroncino Vino Brunello di Montalcino 1999
