Between Tuscany and Umbria
Villa San Crispolto is located on a forested hillside in Umbria, close to the border of Tuscany. We reside over the fourth largest lake in Italy, Lago Trasimeno, and the town of Passignano. The Villa sits in the middle of a DOP awarded olive grove. The owner personally produces an exquisite olive oil he often shares with his guests.
Behind San Crispolto the hillside offers panoramic hiking and many picnic possibilities. Below us, the town of Passignano sul Lago provides leisurely strolls along the boardwalk, ferries to the lake's islands (Isola Maggiore, Isola Minore and Isola Polvese) and hours of treasure hunting amid the many types of specialty food shops, artists galleries and local businesses.
On our grounds you will find a private, lighted, full size swimming pool, generous open-air deck, shaded sitting areas and spacious gardens all with spectacular views of the lake community and forested hills of Umbria.
The villa's border location is ideal, giving you a selection of day trip destinations ranging from the wine country of Chianti in Tuscany to the hill towns of Umbria. The nearby highway offers quick access to many local attractions. The city of Perugia, with its Etruscan interior and Roman exterior is only fifteen minutes to the east. The internationally famous town of Cortona, Tuscany is fifteen minutes to the west. Arezzo, Siena, Assisi, Todi and Orvieto are just a few of the many beautiful places within thirty minutes from your door.
There are many different types of excursions available that will suit every aspect of a vacation. Cultural festivals and special saints' days celebrations go on throughout the year. The local food and wine events include harvest festivals and Perugia hosts the internationally famous "Euorochocolate" each fall. Music festivals are common in the summer. The most famous festivals are "Umbria Jazz" throughout the month of July and "Umbria Classic" throughout the month of August. Sports clubs, 2 full 18 hole golf courses, many tennis facilities, a squash club, horseback riding and paragliding are in the immediate area.
In addition, Villa San Crispolto organizes wine tours in some of the most important wine producing areas of Tuscany.
By car:
- From POINTS NORTH, including Milan and Florence Airport: Follow the green Autostrada signs to the A1, directions Roma.
- From POINTS SOUTH, including Rome* and Naples: Follow the green Autostrada signs to the A1, direction Firenze-Milano.
- Exit the A1 at Val di Chiana and pay the toll.
- After the tollbooth, take a right, following signs marked Perugia to the Perugia Superstrada.
- Exit the Perugia Superstrada at Passignano Ovest.
- After 50 meters from the exit, turn right following the signs Passignano.
- After 2300 meters turn left following the signs "Hotel La Vela".
- After 30 meters turn left following the sign "Posta".
- After 200 meters turn right at the "WOODEN CROSS".
- After 400 meters turn left following the sign " Via San Crispolto".
- After 700 meters you will see at your right "Villa San Crispolto"
To get the A1 from Rome Leonardo Da Vinci Airport at Fiumicino: Follow the green signs for the Autostrade. You will be on the Autostrada di Fiumicino heading towards Rome. Follow the signs for the G.R.A., Gran Raccordo Anulare (this ring road surrounds the city). Get the G.R.A. in the direction of Firenze and the A1 Autostrada. You will remain on the G.R.A. for about ten exits before reaching the one for A1 Firenze-Milano.
